The Early Learning Centre and the Elementary school came together to celebrate this traditional German festival. The students had prepared Laternen in school with the help of their teachers and practiced the songs in class and assembly in order to celebrate this special festival together.

We thank the PTA for all their hard work in organising this event and all parents who donated food and warm drinks to share. This event gave us the opportunity to come together as a community. We are looking forward to holding this wonderful event next year again!

As part of their IPC topic, Grade 5 were on a "Mission to Mars" when they were very privileged to receive an Aerospace guided tour at Airbus Space and Defense in Bremen. They learned about how water and food reach the astronauts and how they live, sleep, and carry out research in zero gravity. They saw a replica of the Columbus module, parts being constructed for the Ariane 5 rocket and last but not least, had a peek at the Space Shuttle laboratory.

ISB expresses their grateful thanks to Airbus Space and Defense for making this fantastic visit possible.

Take a look at the photos and two grade 5 students' Field Trip reports below. For data protection reason some faces have had to be blurred.

What do birds sing on Halloween? Twick or tweet of course! ELC and Elementary students were exited to take part in the annual parade on the afternoon of 30th October. Witches, wizards, pirates, princesses and dinosaurs after enjoying some yummy party food were greeted outside in the sunshine by the Big Bad Wolf, Miss Frizzle and Pippi Longstocking, so not so scary after all!

See the video of the parade here:

Even Elementary ITC lessons in the computer lab had a spooky feel at ISB.

In the evening the Malcolm Davis Hall was transformed with some amazingly spooky decorations of cobwebs, witches and skeletons and fun and frights were had by some pretty scary characters at the ISB Secondary Halloween Disco!

A huge thank you goes to Mrs Reick and the ISB Key Club for the brilliant organisation of this ever popular event.

We all know how much is a Meter or how much a Liter is, but how much is a Newton? How big is it? Or how small is it? Our 9th graders have just started their new IGCSE unit "Forces, Work and Energy". Force is measured in Newtons and students did an activity to have a feel for Newtons, the unit of measurement of Force. They predicted how much force is needed to do some random activities like sliding a chair, opening a window, lifting a backpack etc. They then used Force meters to measure the actual force required to do these jobs. It was a fun activity to have an improved understanding of Newtons.

On 16th October, representatives of Grade 1 visited the local organization Trauerland Zentrum für trauende Kinder und Jungendlich e.V., where they proudly handed over the funds they raised through their recent Bake Sale.
Trauerland is very worthy local organisation set up to support grieving children and teenagers cope with the loss of a loved one.

EL 2 has been reading the book "The Napping House" by Audrey Wood. They finished different cutting, gluing and colouring activities, talked about the order of numbers AND lastly they acted out the story. They played Granny, a child, the dog, cat, mouse and wakeful flea.....who woke everyone up. That was the best part!

Grade 8 students have just started their first IGCSE lab report for Physics. Students are exploring various factors that could affect the flight of paper airplanes. They had to choose one factor that they were interested in and conducted an experiment to see how their chosen factor affected the flight time / flight distance. Some chose to study the effect of the material with which the plan was made, while some chose the wing length and some the mass distribution. This week, they conducted their experiments and completed the data collection, and they will now further analyse their data and draw a conclusion.

Who Am Eye...?
Whose Smile Is This...?
Whose Tracks Are These...?

Early Learning 1 Parents were confronted with these questions in their children‘s project „All About Me“ where they were invited to identify their child‘s own features. It was not as easy as you might think...!
