At ISB, we offer our students in Grades 8 - 10 the opportunity to take The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations.  These examinations are offered by Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and Pearson EdExcel in the U.K.

Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) is reputed to be the world’s largest provider of international qualifications for students aged 14 to 19.  IGCSEs are recognized by leading universities and employers worldwide and are seen as an international passport to progression and success. Developed over 25 years ago, Cambridge IGCSEs are tried, tested and trusted by schools worldwide.

Recognition of IGCSE in Germany

We have written confirmation, from the Bremen Education Board, that the IGCSE qualification is recognised as the equivalent to the "Mittlerer Schulabschluss"(MSA) if students pass with an A*, A, B or C grade in

  • Mathematics
  • Two Languages
  • Social Sciences/Humanities
  • Science

For entrance to Gymnasium the above subjects must be passed with an A*, A or B grade in four subjects with only one C grade permitted.

Public Examinations

We believe that it is very beneficial for our students to take public examinations, because they provide the first taste of externally marked and verified qualifications.
